Alternative medicine is gaining a strong foothold in a developing economy like ours where modern medicine is either too costly or too daunting for the common man. Given the fact that these alternatives are cost-effective, efficient, easy to administer, low in toxicity and relatively safer, make them more alluring as compared to conventional medicine.
With proper qualifications in tow, you can join some of the established practitioners and gain experience. Then you can start on your own. Several drug and pharma companies are also on a lookout for experts in alternative medicine to help them with various researches. There are great opportunities in the academic sector as well.
Although the lack of formulation and standardization in this industry is still an issue being battled out, there are plans to introduce hospitals specializing in the Indian system of Medicines. Considering that these alternative forms of medicine had existed from way before modern medicine made its debut, they are here to stay and grow.
